Hillman Tone Bar testimonial

Post by Michael Lester »

A couple weeks ago I received a 1" coated tone bar from Michael Hillman - a Forum Member.

I've always used 7/8" bars going all the way back to Bobbe Seymour who sold me a progressive line of steels over years.

I read somewhere that the larger bar could help intonation because it's 'footprint' is wider. The analogy was like a car tire - wider tire puts more rubber on the road.

This is the third coated tone bar I've purchased from Michael.

To my surprise, for me at least, the theory works. I'm finding it easier to 'land' on a note - less 'creep' either way over the fret.

Michael Hillman makes a good product that is worth the money.

Food for thought, for sure. I may copy your purchase.
I’m also a big fan of his coated tone bars. Thanks for your thoughts.
