Gig bag that accommodates hipshot double shot on a dobro

Post by Brooks Montgomery »

I know there was some discussion some time back about cases that accommodate a Hipshot Doubleshot, but I couldn't find them with the search function.....

I'm doing an overhaul of a Wechter Sheerhorn "Ickehorn" (Rob Ickes sig.) dobro. Installing new Scheerhorn cone, nashville aura bridge, and I'm going to install the Hipshot Doubleshot system also (lever-bridge, roller nut, locking tuners). As I understand it, the guitar won't fit into it's case after I add the Hipshot tail/bridge assembly.

Is there an extra sturdy gig-bag that any of you recommend that would fit that guitar with new set-up?

I've used Boulder Alpine Deluxe gig bags for resos in the past. Look for the CB-360 / CB-362 for classical/resonator guitars. Can't say for sure that it will work in your situation, but I suspect it will.

I have used the Gator resonator soft case for both of my Beard (E model, large body) guitars; one of them has a hipshot. I reduced the size of the removable neck pad slightly for a better fit, but that was easy to do.
