On-Line Steelers Web site will be discontinued

Post by Don Walters »

I have decided to cease operation of the On-Line Steelers web site. I will be shutting it down in a few days. If anyone is interested taking it over, you're welcome to all the files and images. The files currently occupy about 3.25 Mb of disk space.

Send me an e-mail if you want to take it over. If you'd like to talk to me about it, you can call me at 306-525-9352

Don, I'd be sorry to see it go; you've provided a great service with this, for which I thank you on behalf of everyone who's used it, I'm sure. Hope someone with the time and resources can pick it up where you left off. Maybe b0b would consider it as a branch of the Forum? (hint, hint)

Don,
I hope it works out that somebody picks it up. Its a great service. You have done a fantastic job with it.

I personally think we should dump "off topic" and put Don's web site in its place.

Bob,

I agree with you 100%. "Off Topic" has been somewhat beneficial. Jackie, you have done a great job keeping it together! It serves a purpose, but On-Line Steelers Guide has been 10 times more beneficial, because it helps us "take care of business" first! Many of us regularly use what Don has worked so hard to maintain. Thanks, Don, for the excellent job and don't fall out of touch with the rest of your steel picking buddies!

I don't have the website capability currently or I would take it. We need to keep this resource! What do you think, b0b?

I have had several inquiries from various parties about taking over the site, for which I thank all concerned.

I have an agreement from a highly skilled and competent party that has agreed to continue the site. I won't indicated who it is until the change-over is finished, but I'm confident that party will do an excellent job of maintaining and expanding the service.

I won't be posting any more data. However, for anyone who wants to "get listed" or have changes made to their info, you can send me e-mail until the change is made and I will forward it for posting by the new webmaster at that time.

The existing data will still be available at the current URL until the change is made. There will be very little down time.

Lori, you can close this thread. Thanks

Thanks John. I appreciate the comments.

Yes, all is well with me and mine; no health problems or other family issues. Quite the opposite, in fact. I just felt it was time to move on. I'm very busy with my business and playing my Carter and trying to convince my son & daughter-in-law that I need to be a grandpa (I may have to have a talk with that lad!) Image

I don't know what changes the new webmaster has in mind, but I'm confident it will be taken to a high level of excellence.

Big relief, Don. You were sort of opaque in this thread and I feared something wasn't right.
Yeah, you'd better talk to the boy. I hear they know what causes grandchildren now. Hope you don't need to get out the diagrams.
