cool podcast episode here all about the Phil Lesh/Bobby Petersen song from the Dead's 1974 'From The Mars Hotel' album with John McFee on pedal steel.

the steel portion begins right at 32:00 and lasts about 7 mins. the isolated steel track is featured and after all these years of listening I never detected the Leslie effect on the steel til hearing this

the entire podcast is 87 mins or so, not 2+ hours as depicted

Gotta love the Good Ol' Grateful Deadcast. They just reissued Robert Hunter's Tales of the Great Rum Runners which has some nice pedal steel from Buddy Cage on the album. "Keys to the Rain" "It Must Have Been The Roses"
Rejoice in the Lord, O ye righteous; praise is meet for the upright. Give praise to the Lord with the harp, chant unto Him with the ten-stringed psaltery. Sing unto Him a new song, chant well unto Him with jubilation. For the word of the Lord is true, and all His works are in faithfulness. The Lord loveth mercy and judgement; the earth is full of the mercy of the Lord.
- Psalm 33:1-5

I have a Dead band and we do all the albums note for note. Fun, unique but very challenging. Very nice steel part here from McFee. Took a bit to figure out and get under the fingers for the live shows. Very rewarding though.
